Inner Moray Firth Development Plan Commentary

June 10, 2022 by admin

The CC submitted comments to the local plan and the comments and proposals by HC are in the consultation phase due for submission by the 20th June. We will finalise this at the next CC meeting this coming Monday.

We agreed that we would give an opportunity for interested members of the community to see what the Community Council is proposing to submit and to be able to comment. The Community Council is to submit comments to the Highland Council on the  Proposed Inner Moray Firth Local Development Plan (IMFLDP) by the due date of 17th June 2022. A draft of those comments is attached which will be considered for approval at the Community Council meeting on 13th June. If you have any comments or queries please direct them to the Secretary before that meeting. Alternatively, you may wish to make comments directly to the Council using the link www.highland.gov.uk/imf

A Message from Cllr Margaret Davidson

April 26, 2022 by simon

Hallo all,    Many of you will know I am not standing for re-election on May 5th.

This after 27 years as a Highland Councillor and 7 years as Leader. I expect to have severe if temporary withdrawal symptoms

I wanted to contact you and ask that you contact your community council colleagues and indeed your communities and tell l them that I have found it a real privilege to serve you all over that time. I can truly say I have never had a boring day.

Much of the work I have done with you has led to listening and action, but also often  reflection and some astonishing progress.

Who would know that complaints about pot holes has led to the South Loch Ness roads investment plan and now a clear expectation that developers will be invest substantially in our roads.

I have always said that every community council has been different and you are often great fun.  So much better than sitting at home and I have felt that we have developed genuine respect and friendship over the years.  Covid broke our stride, but it is coming back.

So hail and farewell. Loch Ness is our family home and business so I will be around and I hope to see you soon

Oh yes do not forget to vote on May 5th

I have very clear views on who I would recommend to you so if you wish contact me for a conversation.

My personal e-mail after May 5th is davidsonmargaret50@gmail.com  and my phone number   0781815689

All the very best

Margaret Davidson

Update from H. Council Ward Manager Regarding Community Council Meetings

February 9, 2022 by simon

With the improving situation relating to the Covid pandemic, it is considered that Community Councils can now meet face to face, if they wish to do so.

However, precautions should continue to be taken and we strongly recommend the following is put in place:

  • complete a risk assessment for your meetings (this is in addition to any risk assessment which the venue may already have in place)
  • ensure the room is well ventilated
  • ensure there is enough space for people to maintain social distance
  • you may wish to wear a mask and also encourage others to do so
  • if possible provide hand sanitiser at the meetings
  • as good practice, you should also sanitise surfaces before and after your meeting

While many Community Councils are keen to return to face to face meetings, many have also found that public engagement has increased using virtual methods as it has cut down on travel etc and made it easier for many people to attend.  If your Community Council wishes to continue to meet virtually, we would support that.

I hope this is helpful, but please don’t hesitate to contact your Ward Manager for any further guidance.

Community Councillor Wanted

January 26, 2022 by simon

We have a vacancy for a Community Councillor on the Dores and Essich Community Council.

Do you have an interest in ongoing issues that affect our Community liaising with our Highland Councillors and other agencies ? Then this could be for you.

The only commitment is to 6 meetings a year but if you have other priorities you can give your apologies. You can get involved as much or as little as you are keen to to help on behalf of the Community.

You need to be on the electoral roll . The only downsides, there is no cake or booze

Could you also pass this onto to any young adults in your household, still at school who would like to get involved as youth members its vitally important that the younger members have their views represented and will look good on future CV’s for work or for College or University Applications.

If you would like to apply please email me secdorescc@gmail.com
