Painting Classes

June 25, 2022 by admin

I sent round an email and a few people have expressed an interest. I’m adding it here to reach a wider audience to see if we can get sufficient numbers of people to have the class in the hall.

My name is Lisa Weller. I am a full-time artist and Wellbeing Coach, living and working in Wick, Caithness.

Would your community group be interested in a/some painting classes?  With over a decade of teaching experience, Diplomas in Mindfulness and Life Coaching, plus first hand experience of the relaxing and healing benefits of creativity, it is my joy to teach others.

Painting brings so many benefits. Some of these are –

  • Painting boosts relaxation by switching off the analytical mind, and increasing feel good hormones.
  • Learning to paint improves wellbeing by creating feelings of accomplishment ad satisfaction in oneself.
  • Landscape and Seascape Painting encourages connection with the natural landscape as observation skills are enhanced.
  • Painting in a group eases feelings of isolation.
  • Learning to paint increases over all happiness and provides a purpose and goals to achieve.
  • Painting has been proven to bring relief from stress.

There are a variety of class formats I can provide, such as an introductory two hour session, or a block of six classes. All can be delivered in person, in your community venue of choice, or can be offered online, on an evening or day of your preference.

If you would like to find out more please reply, and I will gladly send you further details. If you would also like some guidance as to how to apply for funding for these classes please let me know.

You can find my work at https://havenhouseart.com/and https://lisamcdonaldart.com/

Thank you for your time.

Best wishes,

Lisa Weller/McDonald

Funeral Arrangements for Mr Alan Findlay

June 22, 2022 by admin

The Funeral for ALAN GRANT REID FINDLAY will take place on Tuesday, 12th July.

On the morning Alan’s body will make its final journey away from Rose Cottage. Anyone wishing to walk with the coffin on the short journey between Rose Cottage and the Dores Inn should assemble in the garden of Rose Cottage.

From the Dores Inn the coffin will then travel to Delliefure Cairngorms Natural Burial Ground near Grantown-on-Spey, approximately an hour’s drive away from Dores. There will be a coach available at the Dores Inn for anyone wishing to make the return trip to Delliefure for the burial ceremony. Please let us know if you think you’d like to use the coach to help us assess numbers. Alternatively one may choose private cars to get to Delliefure. Be aware there’s a walk of several minutes across a grassy field between the car park at Delliefure and the graveside.

During the afternoon there’ll be A Celebration of the Life of ALAN GRANT REID FINDLAY at the marquee on the lochside at the Dores Inn, followed by refreshments. Once again if you think you’d like to attend please let us know to help us assess numbers.

Exact timings and further details to follow.

If possible when parking at Dores please aim for the church which can be seen on the left as you enter the village from Inverness. There’ll be no on-street parking between Rose Cottage and the Dores Inn.

This is Scotland…be prepared for any kind of weather!
