Covid Resilience Group Update

August 30, 2021 by simon

Dear Community Resilience Group/Community Council/Colleagues

I hope you have all had a good week.

Numbers of confirmed cases of COVID have risen across the NHS Highland area in the last week as pupils returned to schools after the summer break. As you will see in the attached joint press release from The Highland Council and NHS Highland issued on Wednesday, this increase is expected to continue and while COVID-19 is circulating at such high levels, NHS Highland advise us all to try to minimise our contact with others as much as possible to limit further spread within our communities.

This week’s briefing is attached and contains information on:

  • The current numbers of covid cases across Highland.
  • NHS Highland Stakeholder briefing and joint press release attached.
  • Updated COVID-19 advice from the Scottish Government for people at highest risk.
  • Next week’s community testing programme for people without symptoms which will be in Grantown on Spey.
  • The launch of a Long COVID e-Learning Self-Management Resource by LGOWIT.

Thank you for everything that you are doing in your communities

SSE Electricity Network Review

August 30, 2021 by simon

As a valued stakeholder, we’re getting in touch to make you aware of our brand-new Transmission Network Use of System charges (TNUoS) stakeholder advocacy hub, which brings together all of our stakeholder led TNUoS analysis, feedback and resources into one accessible place for the first time. Click here to view our new TNUoS stakeholder advocacy hub.

On the hub you will find further information on what TNUoS is and why over 90% of stakeholders tell us that the current methodology is a barrier to net zero, presented through FAQ’s, videos and feedback from wider industry voices. The hub also brings together all of our stakeholder-led analysis to date, with links to our TNUoS Discussion Paper, Stakeholder Feedback Paper, blogs, press coverage and online webinar.

As a stakeholder-led business, driven by a stakeholder-led strategy, we’re motivated to act on the feedback we receive from customers and we will continue to advocate for reform of the current TNUoS regime as the best way forward to support the UK’s ambitious net zero targets and green recovery goals. As part of this, we hope you find the TNUoS stakeholder advocacy hub to be a useful and informative resource which supports the case for reform in the context of the climate emergency.

If you’d like to share feedback with us on the TNUoS Hub, or if you would like to discuss our analysis to date please contact [email protected]

Super fast Broadband Update

August 29, 2021 by simon

You may be aware of the Scottish Government’s R100 project which aims to deliver superfast broadband to all within the next couple of years. Where properties are not included in the full fibre roll-out, the scheme provides for vouchers to  be available for alternative provisions such as fixed wireless, mobile or satellite broadband. Full details and postcode based eligibility checker are available on www.scotlandsuperfast.com.
The Community Council has been following this scheme for some time now and has been lobbying for the Scaniport, Cullaird, Kinchyle and Darris  areas to be included in the scheme (you may be aware that Dores already has fibre broadband). We are pleased to report that a number of properties in those areas are now ‘in scope’.   However, the final scope and programme for this next roll-out have yet to be confirmed (currently stated to be  ‘after 2021’) so in the meantime it is recommended that you go online to the website noted above and check the status of your property and what options may be available.
The Community Council will continue to track progress.
If you have any queries please contact Colin McPherson at [email protected].
