Christmas Card Delivery

December 3, 2021 by simon

Dear friends in Dores and surrounding area.

Christmas Post

As in previous years, Aldourie PS will be supporting residents in Dores parish  to send and receive Christmas cards this season by offering to deliver your Christmas cards. Cards should be clearly addressed with recipents name and at least a partial address, especially if they are to new members of our community! Stamps for this service and post boxes will be available through the school or from Ness Gifts and the Dores Inn. Stamps will cost 20p each.  We are limited to serving the village of Dores.

We will be doing a weekly collection from the post boxes on Friday 3rd/10th/17th Dec. with deliveries the following week.  The last posting date will be Friday 17th Dec. All deliveries will be completed by Wed 22nd Dec.

Carol Singing

The children will be singing around the village on Thursday 16th Dec. We will be making three stops, the first will be at Millcroft at 6.30pm, then Torr Gardens at 7.00pm and finally Church Bank at 7.30pm; all times are approx. We have a mixture of modern and traditional songs for you to enjoy listening to so we hope you can come and join us.

Wishing you all health and strength in the run up to Christmas.

Dores Fishfarm Update

December 3, 2021 by simon

We have managed to secure the moorings boat to start the cage move back to the original position. This will begin next week, the boat is due to come in through the canal via Muirtown locks on Monday depending on time to navigate through to Loch Ness we may start on Monday afternoon, if not it will be Tuesday. Weather dependant we hope to complete works in approx. 5 days.

Apologies for the short notice but with Scottish canals being off season, it took time to secure the passage through the canal. Please circulate to all interested parties so they are aware of the planned activities. This has moved ahead of the original January date to try and resolve the issues created in a quicker time.

Please let me know if you need any more information etc.

Regards Archie.

Highland Council HGV driver vacancies

December 3, 2021 by simon

There is currently a shortage of LGV Drivers across the country and the Highland Council are seeking to recruit to drivers posts for our Winter Maintenance programme.

The Council have been working on a recruitment campaign to attract LGV Winter Maintenance Drivers and have posts going ‘live’ today on My Jobs Scotland.   As part of the campaign to reach the potential candidates who are not on social media we hope to circulate posters locally to be put up in shops, community centres, etc.   Closing date for the posts is 13th December 2021.

Could I ask if you would be able to assist in having the posters circulated around your local area. Your help would be most appreciated.

I have attached the posters for each area we are targeting.

Kind Regards

Community Council Support
