Help Promote the Defibrillator

October 28, 2021 by simon

This week the British Heart Foundation, in partnership with the Resuscitation Council UK and the Scottish Ambulance Service, launched a campaign to encourage individuals who look after publicly accessible defibrillators across Scotland to register the defibrillator on The Circuit.

Early defibrillation can more than double a person’s chances of surviving an out of hospital cardiac arrest – but many defibrillators never get used because emergency services don’t know where they are or how to access them. With around 3,200 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests every year in Scotland, it’s crucial everyone who maintains a defibrillator registers their device on The Circuit to help save more lives.

Funded by the British Heart Foundation, and developed by Microsoft UK the Circuit, is the first ever national defibrillator network in the UK, that integrates with Ambulance dispatch centres to direct bystanders to the nearest defibrillator in case of a cardiac arrest. Currently, across the UK a defibrillator is used in only 1 in 10 incidents of cardiac arrest, but we know that immediate CPR and defibrillation can more than double the chances of survival.

It is estimated that there are tens of thousands of defibrillators across the UK which are still to be registered on the new system. To make sure opportunities to save lives aren’t being missed, the organisations are aiming to see 70,000 additional defibrillators unknown to The Circuit registered by the end of the year.

How you can help:

  1. Are you in an organisation with a defibrillator? Does the ambulance service know it’s there? Halloween Letter Hunt

October 28, 2021 by simon

Dear residents

Once again Aldourie PS is organising a Halloween Letter Hunt through the village of Dores on Sat 30th Oct. The plan again is that children would hunt for Halloween pictures and letters around the village anywhere between LochNess View and Strath Gardens, Dores. They will look for the letters in any order and then rearrange them to make a Halloween related word or phrase. Younger children will hunt for pictures and tick them off on a sheet. The letters/pictures can be hunted for in any order. The idea is that if residents, wish they can watch out for the children passing by all dressed up without children come into their homes.

If any Dores residents are interested in displaying a letter please phone Aldourie Primary or email Louise Robertson (HT) or Jennifer Fraser (Clerical).

Phone:  01463 751272 or  email [email protected]  or  [email protected]

All children are welcome to join in and to complete this activity but will need to collect their sheet from the car park at Dores, Church of Scotland between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. Please remember to bring your own pencil /pen with you. It is anticipated that children will need one hour to complete the hunt and so all children should be finished between 7.30pm and 8.30pm approx.

Goody bags, will be issued at the start of the Letter Hunt along with their Letter Hunt sheet. If partaking in this outdoor activity parents/or a delegated person (eg older sibling) are responsible for escorting their children around the village if parents feel this is necessary due to the age of their child/ren.

Our thanks to the Dores Community Trust Fund for financially supporting this event.

Please wave to the participants and encourage them on their way. We do hope the weather is  much  kinder to us this year than last and that everyone enjoys their evening.

Kind regards

Louise
